A walk through the Palais am Festungsgraben is like walking through past times testifying splendour and fine society. While the steps on the antique parquet echo, you look at the artistic ceilings and nobly covered walls of the drawing rooms.

The palace was built for the royal chamberlain Johann Gottfried Donner by Christian Friedrich Feldmann from 1751 to 1753. Exactly 110 years later it was extended by some representative rooms as well as by the marble hall affectionately restored today with its costly ceiling paintings and marble columns. The different historical rooms fascinate by their individual creation: the oaken hall lures with its eponymous wooden coverings, the light hall and yellow drawing room fascinate by very wide balconies, the blue and red drawing room dispose of elegantly covered walls and artistic ceilings.

Lying in a historically significant ensemble of buildings, the Palais am Festungsgraben offers numerous possibilities for background motives or field recordings. Within sight there lies the Neue Wache, the Maxim Gorki theatre as well as the German historical museum.
