In October 2009 Berlin has gained one more attraction. The Neues Museum on the museum island shines in a new splendor after its complex renovations. The distinguished architect David Chipperfield accomplished the plans for this impressive building. Old structure was preserved and completed with new materials.
The Egyptian Museum and the Papyrus Collection are both situated in the Museum for Prehistory and Early History. The collections thematically interlock so that the visitors go on a exciting journey through the human history. The highlight is the Bust of Nefertiti, that has found a dignified place at the Northern dome hall. The Egyptian Museum extends over three floors with all together 3.000 sq m of space.
It is possible to book guided tours for children and adults, also concerning special topics. The Neues Museum on the museum island in Berlin is open from Thursdays to Saturdays from 10 am to 8 pm and during all the other days from 10 am to 6 pm. The regular entrance fee is 10 Eur. Reductions and free admissions are possible for specific groups.
